Isaac Brokaw

Isaac Brokaw, born on October 26, 1723 and baptized on November 14, 1680, in the Dutch Church, Brooklyn, NY, was the son of Gertrude and John Brokaw. He lived his entire life in Somerset county, NJ, and died July 7, 1789. Isaac's will, dated May 11, 1789 and proved August 31, 1789, declared: "To Catherine, wife £12 yearly and her support by my sons Caspares, John, Isaac, Abraham and Bergon. To son Bergon, use of plantation; all stock and family utensils, negroes," and he was to board Isaac's daughter Phebe and his granddaughter Jan. After two years the plantation was to go to said sons. To children of his daughter, Sarah, £60; to daughter Catalintje, £60; to daughter Ann, £63. And to daughter Phebe, £70. Executors were his five sons and "my cousin Abraham Staats".

On May 31, 1746, Isaac married Antie Van Nostrand, the daughter of Caspares and Jane Van Nostrand. Antie died between 1756 and 1758. On March 7, 1758, Isaac married again, to Catherine Van Wagenen.
