Abraham I. Brokaw

Abraham I. Brokaw, born on October 18, 1787 in Franklin Township, Somerset County, NJ, and baptized on November 18, 1787, at Raritan, NJ, was the son of Maria and Isaac I. Brokaw. Abraham died on May 5, 1878, and was buried in the Brokaw burial ground in Franklin Township.

On December 13, 1810, Abraham married Cornelia Polhemos. Cornelia, born February 11, 1793, was the daughter of Daniel and Cornelia Polhemos. Cornelia died on April 3, 1873.

Children of Abraham and Cornelia Brokaw:

• Ellen Maria, born October 24, 1811, did not marry, and died November 22, 1865.
• Cornelia Polhemos, born December 11, 1813, died February 22, 1816.
• Catherine, born February 19, 1816. On September 14, 1837, Catherine married Rynear Staats Garretson, and lived to be 90 years old. Four children were living at the time of her death.
• Daniel Polhemos, born January 6, 1818.
• Isaac A., born December 31, 1819.
• Phoebe Ann, born November 26, 1825. On December 31, 1846, she married Jacob DeGroot Swan, and she died on August 13, 1870.
• Eliza Jane, born November 26, 1825; died in infancy January 16, 1826.
• Henrietta, born August 5, 1828, married Henry Van DeVeer Stryker, on January 21, 1857.
• Theodore P., born October 16, 1830; died in infancy September 15, 1831.
• John P., born November 24, 1833.
  
• Louisa, born November 24, 1833; died August 10, 1837, before her 4th birthday.
• Abram, born and died, July 24, 1837.
