Using the Truck GVW Calculator program

General
This applet was developed to assist those wanting to calculate the GVW of their specific vehicle, family and camping style.  I have used a couple default weights as they may not be known to some users.  If you know specifically what your weights are, use them instead.  DONT use any 0 in the fields until I get some type checking in place - it will only fail.

GVWR
Select the GVWR of your vehicle.  This is the maximum allowable weight that should be seen if all 4 wheels are on a scale.  Example: The F250 is 8800 lbs.

Truck weight
This is the actual weight of your truck, empty and without fuel.  This value will vary from vehicle to vehicle particularly as options are added.  This should be the actual scale value or as published by the Mfg.

Driver weight
Well, you know what this is - now be honest.

Passenger(s) weight
This is the total weight of all passengers excluding the driver - may include your mother-in-law, dog, etc.

Gallons
Enter the tank capacity for your fuel - Ill calculate the weight using 6.2#/7.2# per gallon for gasoline/diesel respectively.

Estimated Cargo/Accessories
This should include your toolbox, firewood, cooler box (full, of course, with beer on ice).  Additionally, add any accessories like Nerf bars, winches, airbags - anything you may have on your vehicle that will affect the total weight of your vehicle.

Pin or Tongue Weight
Enter the estimated Pin weight (5th Wheel) or Tongue weight (TT).  If you want to know how much pin weight or tongue weight you can handle, set this to 0 and calculate the balance.  Most 5th wheels are in the range of 15-20% of the actual 5th wheel weight.  Tongue weights are usually in the range of 10-15% of the trailer weight.

Calculate button
This should tell you the true story.

Help
This is how you got to here.

Clear
Resets to the defaults - if I remembered to reset them all :).

Enable Java

If using Internet Explorer (IE):
There are a couple ways to enable Java in Internet Explorer (IE).  Without knowing which version of IE you may be using, the process should be very similar for most.

If the browser is running select Tools/Internet Options and click the Advanced tab.  This gets you to the list of options.

The other way is select My Computer/Control Panel and locate the Internet Options pick.  This also gets you to the list of options.

Scroll down about 1/2 way to Microsoft VM (Virtual Machine).

Be sure the JIT (Just in time) comipler is checked - then click OK.  It indicates this requires restart of the browser, so you will have to close the browser and restart it.

If using Mozilla or Netscape products:
Execute this link to install the Java Runtime:
Java Runtime

Try the applet again.

I hope you find this useful and I accept and encourage comments and money to the below email address.
