The following pictures were taken when I was first sworn in as a lawyer,
to the Michigan Bar, on December 10, 1990. I had just started clerking for
Justice Cavanagh a few months before, and, all-around great guy that he is,
he personally administered the attorney's oath to me in the main courtroom
of the Michigan Supreme Court. The next month he was chosen Chief Justice
by his fellow Justices. As is customary on the Court, he served two
terms as Chief before resuming his status as Associate Justice in January
1995.
