On September 11, 2005, the Fifth Annual Shayna Heisman Simkin Award was
awarded to the Best In Show recipient, Marcia Dullum, for her work in acrylic on
paper, "Tribute
To Bonnard".
The show was judged by Howard Payne, former art director of National
Geographic Magazine. The award is shown below being accepted in Marcia's absence
by The Art
League staff.
The
Art League, located in Alexandria, Virginia, has established The
Shayna
Heisman Simkin Award Program. A cash award is to be given to the
artist for "Best in Show" selected in a juried show. The first
award
was presented in November 2001 for the Black & White Show.
The
award is made annually in September.
