Only a few miles from the brightest manmade light in the world, an estimated 40 billion candlepower.  And it's pointed straight up!  I don't think Las Vegas is going to enact any light pollution ordinances anytime soon.

Picture is of my favorite dark sky site in the Great Basin National Park.  It's just under 10,000'.
