MajorTee1.jpgI began my flying career in 1974, earning my Airplane Private Pilot Certificate while attending New England Aeronautical Institute, now known as Daniel Webster College.

After working for the Federal Aviation Administration, I entered the United States Air Force in 1983 flying as Instructor Navigator/ Bombardier aboard the B-52G and the B-1B aircraft for the last 20 years. Many military moves and 3000 flight hours brought me to Las Vegas, NV.

Always fascinated with flight, I joined the Las Vegas Valley Soaring Association in 1997, earned my glider pilot certificate and rediscovered the thrill of flying -- well, soaring, actually -- and the camaraderie of soaring pilots.

In 1998 I completed the last requirement for the Federation Aeronautique Internationale, Silver Badge, the 5 hour duration, ridge soaring on the "house" ridge at LVVSA with plenty of encouragement from my new friends coming up to keep me company. Even the hawk that resides on the ridge came out for a couple passes as 5 hours approached as if to say "Well done junior birdman".

"Silver C" complete in a Schweizer 1-26!

In January 2003 I retired from active duty with the United States Air Force.

Join me, "Bill TIZ", in the Pilot's Lounge in Town Square at America Online.
