I started flying in 1974, but I did not really begin to SOAR !! until 1997.
Civil Air Patrol Blanik L-23, Wave Soaring off Mt Potosi, Red Rock Canyon, Spring Mountains and Mt. Charleston in the background. Photo by 8WE, taken from SGS 2-33 I began learning the "art" of soaring with the Las Vegas Valley Soaring Association in Jean Nevada. I can not really say that I have "learned" the art.. even with over 3000hrs of flight time.. I am at the beginner level with so much more to learn. I have made three major soaring cross country excursions, two of those events are the Silver Badge and the Jean to Lone Pine trip. The other is a Diamond Goal attempt between Tonopah and Austin Nevada in 1999. |
