In England during the 1700's people thought that common laboring men who associated together to form a fraternity for social unity and fellowship and for mutual help was such a violation of the normal thinking of the times that they became known as 'peculiar' or 'odd,' and therefore were described as 'Odd Fellows. It was odd to find people organized for the purpose of giving aid to those in need and of pursuing projects for the benefit of all mankind. Because of the appropriateness of the name, those engaged in these fraternities accepted it. When organized in 1814 the title 'Odd Fellows' was adopted.

The first record of a lodge in America was in 1806 however the official date the lodge was founded is 1819.  The Grand Lodge of Arizona was chartered in 1884 and the Buckeye Lodge was chartered on April 18,1911.
