About the Creator of Bulldog Country®, Mike Smith

Welcome to the world of Bulldog Country®. Created and copyrighted by myself, Mike Smith, Bulldog Country® features teenage dogs and their misadventures.

I created this series in 1990 for the school paper at Crestview High School in Crestview, FL. The school paper, PawPrints, came out about once every couple of months, and I included a comic in it.

After I graduated in 1994, I continued drawing Bulldog Country®. I changed my drawing style a bit, I made some T-shirts, and made some miscellaneous drawings (some of which are included in this website).

I designed various artwork and various comic strips starring these characters up until early 2007. I had some personal situations going on in my life. My wife left me for someone else, my mother-in-law passed away, and various other circumstances beyond my control. In April 2007, I officially announced I had no more desire to work on this series, one of the main reasons being my (ex)wife had a lot of influence on this series, as far as character creation and artwork development. Working on the series at that point was much too painful. So, I "retired", so to speak.

Almost exactly one year later, in April 2008, I guess you could say I had a "vision". It's hard to explain, but in this vision, I was successful as being the creator of this series, and began getting a larger fanbase. Many wanted to see more!

I take my visions very seriously. I've only had a couple of these visions during my life, and each time I have one of these visions, they have come true at some point up to about 90% accuracy... sometimes it takes some effort on my part, and sometimes I have no control over the outcome.

So, we shall see what happens next!

The Background of Bulldog Country®

Bulldog Country® is based in the very distant future, long after the human race has become extinct. Canines have become the primary species of Earth, and have reached the same technical level as we have today (maybe actually a little further).

The name of the primary city where the series takes place is also called Bulldog Country®. Bulldog Country® is located in the northwest panhandle of what was once known as Florida (USA), and about 30 miles inland from what was once known as The Gulf of Mexico.

Another city is located on the coast just south of Bulldog Country®, called Pearl Beach. Pearl Beach is basically a city of constant partying. Many teenagers go there on the weekends when school is out to lay out in the sun, and just hang out with thier friends. Then, when the sun sets and night falls, the dance clubs open thier doors. There are many clubs suitable for teenagers that do not sell alcohol, but many are also not. Adult hang-outs are also abundant, many of which sell alcohol and involve exotic dancing and female stripping.
