The Tigers come from behind to win one. Cooper gets his first varsity start.
In the first inning he gives up a single to Cado and a one out home run to Goulette. He also records two strike outs. The Tigers go down in order. Score is 0-2 at the end of the first inning.
Cooper retires the Rams in order in the second. The Tigers also go quietly, three up, three down.
The Rams manage another run in the third inning. Dore leads off with a single and scores on a one out double by Longmire. White manages a single for the Tigers in the bottom of the third, but no else reaches. End of three, Score is 0-3.
The Rams lead off the fourth with a double by Pritchard. He scores on a single by Fontenot. Maxwell then fouls out to the pitcher and the Tigers record their first double play of the year when Butler grounds to White who tosses to Blades who tosses to Sellars. The Tigers get their first run on back to back singles by Reid and Peairs, followed by a two out single by Blades. Score is now 1-4.
In the fifth inning, a one out double by Cado, followed by a couple of wild pitches/passed balls gets the final run in for the Rams. In the bottom of the fifth, the Tigers manage 7 runs on 5 hits and 2 errors by the Rams. It began with a solo homerun by Landry. Then a walk to White, who would eventually get caught stealing going from 2nd to 3rd. Cooper walks and moves to 2nd on Reids single to left.  Both move up when Sellars is hit by a pitch with two out. Then, 3 consecutive doubles by Edwards, Blades, and Lanehart (who came in in the 4th inning for Berry) puts the Tigers up 6-5. Lanehart scores on an error. Score 7-5.
Cooper strikes out the side in the sixth for a total of  8 strikeouts. And retires the side in order in the 7th. Meanwhile, the  Tigers add one more run, in the top of the sixth when Cooper is hit by a pitch, moves up on Reids single, moves to third on Sellars single, and then scores on Blades' two out single.
All in all, a nice game for the Tigers. They never gave up and got a little confidence.

The Tigers never got going and showed first game jitters throughout most of the game. In the top of the first inning Baggett of the Rebels led off with an infield single, followed by a walk to Jackson. C. Edwards got Malone to strike out but Brabham looped a single to right to score the first run. Bean then hits into a fielder's choice at shortstop that gets Brabham out, but scores Jackson. Havard gets a single to score Bean. And Knapp's single got Havard to third before Cox strikes out to end the inning. So, the Tigers go into the bottom of the first trailing 0-3.
In the Tiger half of the first, Cooper leads off with an infield single. Cooper steals second and Sellars gets a 1-out walk. Peairs and Edwards both hit nice fly balls, but right to the centerfielder to end the inning. After 1 inning, the score is 0-3.
The game ended there. In the second inning, the Rebels sent 20 men to the plate, get 10 hits, and score 15. The Tigers go through 4 pitchers before Rogers comes in to slow down the Rebels. The Tigers also committ five fielding and throwing errors, not to mention, several mental errors.
In the bottom of the second, Berry manages a 1-out walk and White reaches on an error after two are out. Cooper again gets an infield single to load the bases. Reid hits a sharp ball, but right at the centerfielder for the third out. Score 0-18.
Top of the third, Jackson gets a lead off single followed by a single by Malone. After two are out, Havard reaches on an error and Jackson scores. Rogers gets Knapp to strikeout for the third out. It is now 19-0.
The bottom of the third proves uneventful for the Tigers except for a sharp 2-out double by Edwards followed by a walk to Landry, the Tiger catcher, who, by the way, did an exemplary job at catcher. It was a warm night and it had to be tough catching the second inning for the better part of an hour.
The top of the 4th saw the Rebels load the bases with one out, but an infield fly out, followed by and unassisted out by Peairs at third base ended the threat.
In the bottom of the 4th, Priest lead off with a walk, reached second when Jelks was hit by a pitch, and scored on a single to the wall by Cooper for the only Tiger run of the evening. Sellars reached after getting hit by a pitch with two out, then Peairs walked before the game ended. The game was called after 4 innings because of the 15-run mercy rule.
