The Cochise & Western Model Railroad Club is located at 680 North Fort Avenue in the
city of Sierra Vista, Arizona 85635.
The club operates a 20 x 40 foot HO scale layout that is constructed around three walls of the room, with a center peninsula projecting out from the back, forming the shape of
a large capital letter 'E'. The layout can be operated using either conventional DC
block control or Digital Command Control (DCC) using a North Coast Engineering
ProCab Wireless system and a special computer program created for us by Dr. Terry
Chamberlain, who resides in England.
When operated in the DC block control mode, as many as 8 operators can control up to
8 trains. With DCC, up to 14 operators could conceivably control as many as 44 trains or
consists if it were possible to keep track of that many trains running at one time.
An N-scale layout is under construction in a separate room.
We also have a 16 x 16 foot HO scale portable modular layout that is set up outdoors
during our May and November open houses, and at other locations in the Sierra Vista
area as the occasion dictates. This layout can be operated using both DC block control
and a portable CVP Products' EasyDCC system.
Some members also have G-scale, Lionel O-scale, On30, TT, N, and even a Lego Train.
