Susan Mary Spillman Hogan
May 31, 1959 - Oct. 27, 2006

Susan Spillman was born in Baltimore, Maryland on May 31, 1959. She was the daughter of Joseph B. Spillman and Bernice Barry Spillman of Hagerstown.

She was a 1977 graduate of North Hagerstown High School, and graduated from the University of Maryland in 1981. In her earlier years, Susan was a cheerleader and very active in sports at North High; she also was a member of St. Ann Catholic Church and the Capitol Area Carcinoid Survivors.

Prior to her diagnosis with Carcinoid Cancer, Susan was employed by National Geographic and also United Health Care.

Susan had a very rare atypical aggressive form of Carcinoid Cancer that was painful for her and did not respond to treatment and so her carcinoid journey was a relativly short one.

She is survived by her husband, Robert Vernon Hogan, whom she married July 29, 2006; sister, Margaret S. Lepsig of Matthews, N.C.; and two brothers, Joseph B. Spillman Jr. of Ellicott City, Md., and Barry A. Spillman and wife, Jan, of Ellicott City.

A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated Tuesday, Oct. 31, 2006, at 11:30 a.m. at St. Ann Catholic Church in Hagerstown, Maryland with the Rev. Fr. Douglas Kenney as celebrant. She is intered in Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown, Md.

Memorial donations may be made to Capitol Area Carcinoid Survivors, 2832 Juniper St., Merrifield, VA 22031.
