Samhaim Lore
(October 31st)

At Samhain, the wicca say farewell to the God. The death of his physical body is a temporary farewell, as he prepares to be reborn of the Goddess at Yule. Samhain, also known as the Feast of the Dead, Hallows and All Hallows, once marked the time of sacrifice. In some places this was the time animals were slaughtered to ensure food through the Winter. The God falls into the unknown for a time to ensure our continued existance.
Samhain is a time for reflection, of looking back over the last year, and coming to terms with the end of life, or physical death, over which we have no control. Many wicca feel that on this night the veil between the physical and spiritual worlds is at it's thinnest. It is a time to remember the dead and past experiences.
