[[6/7/02]] I visited the basketball coaches today and got some idea on next year's preconference schedule. Of the nine teams that we will likely schedule, not counting exhibition games, the following has been established. UCI will play at Stanford in a 3 game deal. I expect this means that UCI has secured a 2-1 deal with 2 games against Stanford on the road and one game at the Bren. We also play at St. Mary's and Pepperdine. UCI will participate in the Oklahoma Tournament, opening against Princeton. The other participant besides host Oklahoma is Western Michigan. UCI plays Loyola Marymount and Indiana-Purdue/Fort Wayne at the Bren.
That is a total of 7 games leaving 2 games to be scheduled. I expect the coaches to schedule a D2 team for the preconference, some other division 2 team for the regular season (why do they keep doing that?), and some other low ranking division I team that is willing to come out for a one game deal.
