Where's Waldo ?

( Waldo on location in Sophia, France. )
Sometimes
Model Horse People just gotta have fun!
First of all this is all
Kim's fault! She started it!!!
So who is
Waldo? Waldo is a SM scale Valdemar resin produced by Horsing
Around. He was sculpted by Paige Patty, rework and prep by
Tracie
Bell, and painted by Kim Swanson. However all that doesn't
begin
to tell his story. This is one well traveled little horse...
Waldo
came into existence at Horsing
Around in England. He was a factory second, and had problems
with
his stomach and chest being caved in. Soon he was shipping
across
the ocean to Kim Swanson in Marlboro,
Massachusetts. After
waiting at Kim's for a while, he hitched a ride in a box down to
Phoenix, Arizona. The poor guy shipped when it was really hot
out
and ended up with his legs melted in every which direction.
While
he was here, I fixed his legs, rebuilt his chest and stomach, added
additional muscling to his front legs, and gave him a slightly thicker
tail. Then he was back in a box to Massachusetts, where Kim
would
give him his paint job. Here is where the fun started.....
I
believe that my painting
instructions to Kim was, "Anything but chestnut".
Hey, I
like to let the artists have some fun too... Well, Kim set to
work on him, but she wouldn't tell me what color he was going to
be. I got lots of hints... A bit of
teasing... Oh,
she was having a good time with me! Finally she sent me a
picture
here and there, but kept him hidden behind other horses.
See what
she
started... Just plain mean. ;-) I
threatened Kim that
he should be named 'Where's Waldo' since he was always hiding in the
pictures, and thus Waldo got his name. After Kim had had her
fun,
Waldo shipped back from Massachusetts to Arizona. Not wanting
Kim
to get the last laugh, I took some pictures of Waldo hiding behind
horses here.
Man, it
took me over an hour to get those two shots. My appy mare
thought
there must be something real suspicious about Mom trying to hold a
plastic horse against her with one hand while wielding a noisy camera
in the other. Poor Waldo, disliked by the real four legged
kind...
Now
I was beginning to think that
Waldo sure was traveling around a bit, so when I got the opportunity to
go to France, Waldo just had to come too. No
cardboard
shipping box this time. Waldo traveled in a specially padded
Tupperware bowl with me in the passenger compartment. I
wonder
what those security guys with the x-ray cameras thought of Waldo?
Waldo
traveled from Arizona back to
London, England, and then caught another plane to Nice,
France.
He checked out the French Mediterranean, and when he wasn't sight
seeing
he camped out in one of those fancy foreign stables. We
really
wanted to get some more adventurous site seeing shots, but
unfortunately for Waldo we were traveling with the hubby.
"Don't
you dare take that plastic horse out in public around me!!!"
What
a party pooper...
After
France, Waldo came back to Arizona. He did end up living in
three
different homes while we were having a new home built, but at least he
stayed in the same State for a while. Who knows where this
little
guy will end up next...
