I sold my plane in August of '05, but it was great flying while it lasted.

I joined the Midwest Ultralight Association flying club in November 1999, and started looking for a plane to buy. I looked at new and used planes but when I visited Rans Aircraft in the summer of 2000, I settled on the S-17 Stinger. The open-cockpit design appealed to me.

The kit was delivered on April 7, 2001.  After four months of work in my garage it was moved to Day Airfield in Missouri Valley, Iowa for a final month of assembly.

Ground testing began on August 28, 2001.

First flight was on September 2, 2001.
