Silvan Diisarirga was educated at the Catcroft School, the well known Deneb Sector sporting school. Athletic activities are important at all of the Prep schools, but Catcroft carries it to the extreme. There is an indoor riding ring, the largest non-professional gravball court in Deneb Sector, as well as luxurious horse and poni stables that rival the house rooms. Students spend 2 weeks every semester roughing it in the vast tracts of land that surround the isolated campus, most of which are owned by the school. To say that the young Silvan found the whole notion of being effectively naked on the surface of a planet disconcerting would be an understatement.
The young heir was sent to just such environment because her parents realized that the future leader of clan Diisarirga must be able to deal with the unfamiliar as well as the well known. The family had holdings on many worlds and the Lady Silvan must be as comfortable standing in a field under a raw sun as in a vac suit.
And comfortable in a vac suit she was. Silvan spent her youngest years with her uncles inspecting surface facilities above the caverns, as well as working in the dangerous out caves, where workers toiled to extend the reaches of the arcology. But her favorite activities were at the training camp of the The Duke's Own Magash Dragoons, located on Magash's surface. One of her favorite uncles was Brigadier of the Huscarle regiments. The soldiers accepted her as both mascot and future commander and she was never safer in her own bed.
After graduation she surprised even her uncles by attending Deneb Military Academy, though her responsibilities made even the thought she might accept a commission in any of the Unified Armies unthinkable. Her purpose was well thought out, majoring in both political and military science, Silvan was preparing herself for the roll she knew that she must one day take, that of Duchess of Sabine.
Upon graduation the Baroness VithVinda insisted on attending the training of the Troopers as a recruit, a move that surprised only her parents. Predictably she excelled at sword, which she had mastered at prep school, and tactics, which she had mastered at university.
During the Fifth Frontier War Silvan was instrumental in convincing the Duke to train up the Brigade in Marine tactics through the use of retired IM instructors, and spent several years in the war directing operations herself, until a battle with a Sword World unit on a Caliburn system asteroid nearly resulted in her death.

The Duke recalled his daughter to the safety of the Deneb sector, just in time it seemed, as he fell to an unexpected, devastating illness. With the end of the war, and the return of rival forces, the new Duchess started her duties with many problems for her people, her sector and her many holdings, which had prospered even as war had raged. She found an able advisor in her mother, just as her father had. The old Duchess, now having taken up her daughters previous title, Baroness VithVinda is a master in pitting one local faction against the other, not just on Magash, but also throughout the sector. The Duchess of Sabine has found this a useful talent and has managed to walk a narrow line between the new Archduke and her hereditary liege, the Duchess of Mora.
