The family was down to our place for Christmas this year and we left for Baja the day after. Ramona was going down with us. Bruce and Christine showed up a day later and Ed and Donna arrived a couple days after that. After stocking up in San Felipe, we made good time on the Puertecitos road. It hadn't been worked on since October, but was still paved to end of the straightaway leading to the Campo Christina s-curve. After we rolled through Puertecitos, the run down to Las Encantadas was about as smooth as it gets, figuratively speaking that is.
We got into camp a little after dark, powered up the campo and we were off and running. Frozen chile verde filled the menu for the night. The next morning, the first thing we noticed was that Loncho's shack was GONE! It sure changed the scenery. I've still not made up my mind whether I like its absence or not.

Rogelio de Encantadas came by with a couple doggies in tow. His brother was down too. They filled us in on the big Totuava bust and other happenings since October. Generally in Baja, no news is good news.

We're already enjoying the expanded veranda. We used it as a dinner area during this trip. It was warm enough to eat outdoors, an unusual phenomenon for Christmastime.

The nights were cold, but not as cold as usual for this time of the year. Venus was the evening star and appeared as a crescent. Ramona snapped this shot of the lit-up campo at the last stage of dusk.

In the morning, Ramona explored the tidepools and cruised out in the flats later in the afternoon. She took this nice picture of a blooming Ocotillo.

And this old artsy truck

Out on the shore, a Reddish Egret posed on a rock for her.

Bruce and Christine showed up and checked out the scene.

Later in the evening, Ramona was out at the edge of the bluff with Isla San Luis in the distance.
