Liberty League Alternative Religions Education Network Formerly WADL (Witches' Anti-Discrimination League.) Specific Attacks on Our FreedomThe Radical Religious ReichI find it necessary to clarify that I am neither anti-Christian nor am I such a radical leftist that I assume that all conservatives (or 'right wing') folks are evil. There is, however, a segment of the right wing which is quite obviously trying to establish a theocracy in this country. That agenda is something that I will fight to my last breath. AMERICA - Not a Christian Nation! - An article on the historical revisionism of the Religious Right's concept of America as a "Christian nation". The Founding Fathers Were NOT Christians - another article on the historical inaccuracy of the RRR's platform. And here's a whole Webring of sites which are "Proud members of the Right Wing Conspiracy". Some of the sites in this webring are obviously simply sincere Christians with a very conservative political viewpoint and while I don't generally agree with them, their viewpoints are informed and balanced. There are, however, a good number of way out there sites promoting the intolerant RRR agenda and bashing anything that doesn't fit their limited worldview. A daunting look at how many people actually feel that it is their Christian duty to suppress the freedom of others. Here's an interesting interpretation of "Religious Freedom". The Religious Freedom Home Page, billed as a page against "seperation of church and state extremism" is yet another site promoting the idea of combining Church and State to turn this country into a "Christian Nation". Calls to Action (Things that You can Do)Attend events like your local Pagan Pride and Blessed Be and Meet Me in DC Use PEN's Articles, Brochures and Guides to educate people about Paganism and threats to religious freedom in the US. Keep an eye on the Wren's Nest , the Lady Liberty League and other alert pages for updates and calls for action. Miscellaneous Links
Anti-Hate Group Initiatives and Watchdog Groups
Anti-Hate Group InitiativesHate Crime Initiatives - "The Bureau of Justice Assistance (BJA), a component of the Office of Justice Programs, U.S. Department of Justice, supports innovative programs that strengthen the Nation's criminal justice system by assisting State and local governments in combating violent crime and drug abuse." This is their hate crime initiative site. Update 8/06/2006 - this appears to be defunct. The National Criminal Justice Reference Services does have a Hate Crimes page, though. Watchdog GroupsHateWatch - An Educational Resource Combating Online Bigotry The Nazism Exposed Project - Tracks Nazi groups on the Net and in Europe. Listings and DirectoriesThe Hate Directory - This is a very interesting site. The Hate Directory is a very extensive list of both groups and individuals who "in the opinion of the author, advocate violence against, separation from, defamation of, deception about, or hostility toward others based upon race, religion, ethnicity, gender or sexual orientation." The author includes Anti-Christian sites as well as the usual White Supremist, anti-Semetic groups and such but this site is strangely lacking in any Anti-Wiccan / Anti-Pagan sites, so once I get a good list going I'm going to open a dialogue with the author and see if he just missed us or decided to exclude us for some reason. Dispelling Myths and PropogandaCAW's Nemeton Press published an excellent guide for dispelling misinformation about Wicca and Neo-Paganism called Witchcraft, Satanism and the Occult Crime: Who's Who and What's What. It is currently out of print, but you may be able to get it on ebay. Keep an eye out on the Nemeton web site for it's re-issue. Miscellaneous LinksHate Groups, Anti-Wiccan Groups and Other PropogandaThe following is a list of sites which attack religious freedoms in some way or which are responses to such sites. Some are rebuttals to Hate sites or are rebuttal rings. This includes RRR and Christian "witch hater" propoganda sites and their rebuttal sites.
Hate GroupsWorld Church of the Creator Headquarters - Their web page states that "World Church of the Creator neither condones violence or unlawful activities nor do we promote or incite them." yet an unusually large number of hate crimes have recently been attributed to World Church of the Creator members (including a shooting at a Jewish Community Center). Regardless of whether they actively promote "violence or unlawful activities" their philosophy speaks for itself. Their (non-violent?) battle cry is RAHOWA which stands for "racial holy war". Exposing Satanism - The Ontario Consultants on Religious Tolerance call this "another equal opportunity hate site". Anti-Wiccan GroupsWicca Is Evil - Thunder Ministries. Radical Religious Reich (Right-wing) Religious PropogandaIs there a difference between Wicca and satanism? - Propoganda from the publishing company that gives us "Chick Comics" Rebuttal Sites and Rebuttal RingsHatred and misinformation directed against Wiccans - from the Ontario Consultants on Religion Tolerance.
