Why Buy Clothes Online?

I'm starting with the basic question - why should I purchase clothes online?  I don't get to see what I'm buying (other than a picture) and how do I know it will fit?  What are the advantages of purchasing clothing online?

The answers are as basic as the question.  Currently, the price of gasoline makes it difficult to drive around to different stores to find what you want and then there's the issue of drive time.  Online prices (especially from auctions sites such as Ebay) are almost always cheaper than you will find for the exact same item in a brick and mortar store.  Many of the store websites, such as Gymboree, Hanna Andersson, Lands End, Old Navy and Gap have clearance or outlet sections of their websites with inventory you might not find in your local store.  In addition, for many buyers, brands such as Oilily, Hanna Andersson, Naartjie, Mini Boden and even Gymboree are not readily accessible in their local malls.  And, most importantly, who can argue the convenience of shopping in the middle of the night in your pajamas while the kids are sleeping?

Buying online is best for purchasing children's clothing.  There are TONS of listings on Ebay and other auction sites, such as Wagglepop and Yahoo.  Many of these listings are for BRAND NEW items.  Children's clothing generally runs true to size and doesn't require as much attention to measurements.  (However, if you are ever in doubt, any reputable seller will give you specific measurements and online stores have their sizing charts available in the customer service section.)  In addition, with brands such as Gymboree, you can frequently find the exact item you are searching for.

Depending on the state in which you live, online purchases also can be tax free.  That savings on retail taxes goes a long way to paying the shipping costs.  Being a saavy buyer often means finding the store that is offering free shipping.

Personally, I started buying my children's clothing online when my second child was born.  I love children's clothing, but I am cheap and could hardly justify spending $50.00 for an outfit for an infant or toddler, especially when I knew she would outgrow it long before it was worn out.  I wanted to dress my children in brands that were unique, but I didn't want to break our bank account.  What started as a hobby that was designed to earn enough money to buy the next season's wardrobe has become a business that I love!

Convenience, selection and price - great reasons to buy clothing online!
