HEBREW CLASS

Goal: 

To teach Jews, Christians and non-believers the language of our Lord and Savior, Yeshua HaMoshiach (Jesus Christ), the language that God spoke to Moses in.

 

Teaching experience:

bulletI am a public school teacher in middle school in the Paradise Valley School District.  I teach band.
bulletI am teaching my 3rd Hebrew Class in church now.  I taught one at Calvary on I-17 and Thunderbird and had 150 sign up.  There was such a great response because the pastor thought it was very valuable and spoke about it from the pulpit.  I had one class of 50 at Scottsdale Bible Church and now I have a class of ten or 12.  There would have been more, but there was an error in what the class was about in the bulletin! 
bulletI have taught many classes and bible study groups since I have accepted Yeshua as Lord and Savior of my life! 
bulletI have a bible study at our home weekly with friends that I have met in church who love the Lord and want to find out more about Him.
bulletI lead a Men’s 4x4 GROUP from Scottsdale Bible.
bulletI have read through the entire bible over 16 times and I try to apply what I read on a daily basis at work, at home and with everyone I meet.
bulletI have done prison ministry for 20 years (10 in Massachusetts with men and 10 with kids at Adobe Mountain Detention Center on 1-17 north of Phoenix.)  I have brought hundreds and thousands of men and kids to the Lord.
bulletI have seen and experienced many miracles in my life due to my faith in God and Jesus who can do it all!
bulletI am now reading and translating the Tanakh (O.T.) from Hebrew to English.  I am now up to the book of Judges.  I started this past summer.  I am more than ¼ of the way through already. 
bulletI use what I have learned in the Tanakh in Hebrew Class to reveal many words, names and meanings that would normally be skipped right over. 
bulletI have recently started to use HEBREW WORD PICTURES, which is a series of books that show where the Hebrew Language comes from and that shows that each and every letter has a meaning due to the word picture that it comes from. 
bulletI bring the love of the language and the depth of this meaning to the class when I teach to make it very exciting and meaningful, opening up the true meaning that God intended when He wrote it and spoke it with Moses and our forefathers!
bulletI took two semesters of Hebrew at the Phoenix Seminary last year and I studied the 3rd semester information on my own.  I got an A and an A+.   I have 900 vocabulary words and I know many, many more words thanks to my translating the Tanakh from Hebrew to English. 

 

Religious background:

bulletI was born and brought up in the Jewish faith and bar mitzvah on June 4, 1960.
bulletI was offered a full scholarship to be a rabbi when I was a kid, but chose to go into music instead.  I graduated from the Boston Conservatory of Music in 1965 with a Bachelor of Music Degree.
bulletI accepted the Lord on the eve of my 25th birthday.  This is almost 34 years ago now.  WHAT AN AWESOME TRIP!!!
bulletThe Lord led me to put up a website 3 years ago called THE JEWISH MESSIAH at http://members.cox.net/cdwiner/ or you can also see the alternate site at afreetickettoheaven.com (please pass this site information on to others who might enjoy or benefit from it…everyone!).
bulletI have distributed hundreds and hundreds of copies of one of the pages that the Lord led me to write and post called A FREE TICKET TO HEAVEN.  It is loaded with O.T. prophecy about the Messiah from the Tanakh and it also gives the saving message on the other side.  This was a vision from the Lord.  WHEN THE LORD SPEAKS TO ME, I MOVE!
bulletI go on the Jewish and religious chat rooms on Yahoo regularly to tell the world about our Messiah.  I have brought both Jews, non-believers and Muslims to the Lord on the chat room.
bulletI use a lot of information from the PROPHECY PAGE on my website when I tell people about our Savior.  I have attended Scottsdale Bible Church for a year and a half.  I attend the Jewish Roots class and Beth Sar Shalom Messianic religious services.
bulletI am in the process of starting a more Jewish service to bring more Jews into our congregation so they can see that our Messiah is truly the Jewish Messiah that God prophesied Him to be.  I hope to speak half of the service in Hebrew and the other half in English so Jews can feel comfortable in a church setting and eventually blend and fit right in with everyone else.  This won’t be to exclude anyone, but to include as many as the Lord calls to come to know Him.

 

Books and Materials and the Hebrew Class:

bulletI use the text that Danny Ben Gigi wrote.  He lives in Scottsdale and I have come to know him as a friend and fellow Messianic Jew. 
bulletThe book LIVING ISRAELI HEBREW is what I use for beginning Hebrew.  It costs $35.  If more than one person per family takes the course they can share the book.
bulletI am charging a nominal fee of $15 for each person who takes the class per day ($30 for 2 days, $45 for 3 days and $60 for 4 days per student). 
bulletI am open to class length.  It could be a few hours or both a morning and afternoon session of a Saturday at your church (one day class).
bulletThe class could extend to 2, 3 or 4 days (if in the valley around Phoenix) at a cost of $15 per day per student.
bulletI am also planning to offer advanced courses at church in interpreting the Tanakh or Old Testament, starting with Genesis as a follow up to this course!  Students would have to know beginning Hebrew already.  This course would only be an option and not mandatory to take after taking the beginning Hebrew class.
bulletI have many books from Danny Ben Gigi that enhance the class and are available to purchase, so students can continue on their own and be challenged at all levels.  Several books are based on Word Pictures. 
bulletMy knowledge of Hebrew, where it came from and the meaning of each letter has opened up a new world of meaning for my students and me!
