Ticket to Heaven

This really isn't free. But then again, what is free these days. Jesus actually paid your way to Heaven, so it's free to you. The price he paid for you was His life. He died on the cross so you might live and have eternal life with Him (see John 3:16). Jesus not only promises eternal life with Him but a great and fantastic life here on earth (see Galatians 5:22 and also Matthew 6:9). There is nothing magical or mystical about being sure of eternal life. Jesus made it real simple so all of us could make it to Heaven. You only have to do three things (BELIEVE, REPENT, AND BE BAPTIZED). If you say this simple prayer and mean it, it's the beginning of a life with Him, Jesus our Lord and Savior, and the guarantee of a place in Heaven.

I BELIEVE in the Father, the creator of all things, the source of all life (see Genesis 1:1). I believe in Jesus Christ, His only Son, who lived and died for me. I believe that He shed His blood on the cross so all my sins would be forgiven, once and for all. I believe in the Holy Spirit, the comforter, who lives in me and guides me to believe in and follow Jesus. (Well, that's the first step. How are you doing so far? If you can say that and mean it, then proceed.)

I REPENT of my sins, the things that I have done that God does not want me to do. I am sorry for sinning against God and people that I have wronged. Please forgive me, Lord. Help me (Holy Spirit) to read the Word (Bible) and find out what God wants me to do. Help me to be more like Jesus every day. Help me to pray for His help (see Matthew 6:9). Thank you for forgiving all my sins, so I can be accepted as perfect by God, and so I can enter Heaven. (So far, so good!) There is only one more thing to do.

Be BAPTIZED. When you are baptized, you are dipped under water by a priest or minister and pulled back up again. The water is a symbol of washing away all your sins. It is also a commitment to God that you mean business. When you go under the water it is like you are dying or being buried to your old self and sins. When you are pulled up out of the water, you are born again in Christ (see John 3:3). You may sin again, but your sins are forgiven, all of them, forever. That is Jesus' promise to you. If you do sin, ask God's forgiveness and try not to sin again, as much as you possibly can.

That's all there is to it. From here, the real fun begins. It is a lifetime of commitment to Christ and helping the people you meet. It takes a lot of effort, but is it ever a trip! You won't believe how much your life can and will change once you start to turn your life over to God. Please let me know when you make this commitment and how God is working miracles in your life. Isaiah 43:3 For I the Lord am your God, the Holy One of Israel, your Savior.
