I was born an Army brat in 1971. I've lived in Georgia for much
of my life with brief stints in Panama, Kentucky, and Arkasas.
My degree is in chemical engineering and I work in the pulp and
paper industry doing process controls on paper machines. I have
a wife, two little kids, two dogs and a cat. The dogs enjoyed
field day 2006.
After moving to Arkansas in mid-late 2003, I found ARLL.org
after a Google search and read about licensing requirements. I
contacted a local ham (WB5HIL) from the ARRL's club list and
discussed ham radio, people, clubs, and more. The next local
hamfest was in three weeks and 120 miles away.
The Little Rock Hamfest had a testing session at 8:00 am on
September 20, 2003. After waiting a week and a half I was
licensed as KD5ZEF.
I upgraded to General class in May 2005 after much Elmering and
encouragement from WB5HIL, WB5PSN, AC5TN, WD5O, KZ5JEF, and
W5BF.
I joined the CGARC after moving to Warner Robins in December
2005.
I upgraded to Amateur Extra by the hair of my chin in June 2006.
I lead the VE team for licensing for CGARC, working closely with
W6SVE, WM4B, KC4YJO, and W5ACP.
So far I'm having great fun as CGARC President for calendar year
2007.
I was assigned the vanity call N4CI in February 2007 with some
SK harvesting help.
