QUESTIONS & RULINGS

Q:  Can I use Poetry In Motion in this deck?
A:  No.  This is only available for the superstar called Hardy Boyz.  Matt Hardy has his own Trademark Finisher as well as other cards useable only by him.  Cards will indicate if they can be used by the Hardy Boyz, Matt Hardy, or both.
Q:  If I remove Put It All On The Line from play before I play a High Risk maneuver, does that break the chain?
A:  No - removing a card from the Ring Area such as this one, or Ladder In The Ring does not break the chain.
Q:  Does Put It All On The Line get shuffled back into my deck?
A:  Yes, because it goes to your discard pile before the High Risk maneuver is played, and only if that maneuver is successful does the Ringside pile get shuffled back in, which would include Put It All On The Line.

ANALYSIS

In The Ring:  Matt Hardy is a very resilient athlete - when he mounts a comeback with his high-flying attacks, he can refocus his attack and regain a measure of his strength.

In The Game:  Every time you successfully play a High Risk maneuver, Matt's Superstar Ability allows you to shuffle 6 cards back into the deck from the Discard pile.

Using All Foils/Uniques:  Matt's Trademark Finisher, Twist Of Fate, is a powerful Grapple reversal in addition to being a light-standard TMF. Matt's Moonsault is an awesome High Risk card, especially when used with his Superstar Ability. Since you can have up to 3 in your deck, Roar For The Fans becomes a real asset, granting not only card advantage, but boosting a small card like Clutch Onto Opponent to 4D - setting up a possible High Risk! Put It All On The Line gives you the possibility of powerful card recovery, a possibility made certain with Matt Hardy's Patented Leg Drop - a good unreversible High Risk made better with Put It All. And to help get a maneuver through to launch a High Risk attack, Live For The Moment is fantastic, like a small Turn The Tide.

Using Some/No Foils/Uniques:  Like all other Superstar Abilities featuring High Risk, Matt Hardy doesn't lend toward low-Fortitude decks, but high-Fortitude Trademark Finishers can be set aside - though Matt is the only HR-related deck whose TMF has no set-up requirement. While you may not want to use all 3 (or any) of Roar, it's worth strong consideration - and frankly, just about every deck should keep Matt's Moonsault - a very powerful High Risk card indeed! Finally, unless you have an extremely unusual (and extremely good!) reason, Live For The Moment, Put It All and Leg Drop both belong in every Hardy Boyz deck - Matt's recovery ability is great, but being able to recover your *entire* discard pile is always better!

Deck Ideas: Decks with High Risk abilities like any of the Hardyz and Eddie Guerrero don't lend themselves well toward low-F control decks, unless they are made to launch one massive attack that can't be stopped - but the variations available are still far and wide.  Comeback!, used against yourself, is a serious option - since Matt can recover cards easily, the Put It All/Matt's Leg Drop combo could be used more than once if set up correctly. A deck using Throw Into The Corner Turnbuckle to set up Big Splash In The Corner and Superplex is another option, especially if Throw is also used to make Grapple set-up maneuvers unblockable (beware of Fortitude Surge, though). Ladder In The Ring could also be worked into a theme, trying to set up one major High Risk maneuver (Matt's Leg Drop, most likely). But no matter what, the Face/Heel diversity should be explored, since Face can help augment the card advantage (from Roar) with Handshake, as well as using Turn The Tide for a set-up move into a High Risk (recovering cards sacrificed to allow your opponent more Fortitude); however, Heel gives Dirty Low Blow as a set-up for Matt's Patented Leg Drop, and cards like Manager Interferes and Spit At Opponent can make your deck more defensive.

Recommended Stipulations: If you're Heel, No DQ - if you're using Lita To The Xtreme, same thing, different reason (Lita = 1F to play!).

Watch Out For: All High Risk decks fear Sustained Damage for it's ability to reduce your maneuver just enough to keep the High Risk conditions from being met - tread carefully. Also, discard decks can make life difficult, since you usually need 3-5 cards in hand to really get going with Matt.

How I Play:  My new Heel Matt deck is very strange, but it works well! Using Great Technical Knowledge, Hair Pull (also helpful for an early unblockable Grapple) and Clutch (often followed by Leverage) allows easy access to High Risk moves like Matt's Patented Leg Drop or Flying Head Scissors. There are no recovery Actions, the deck relies on playing High Risk cards (as well as Put It All/Matt's Leg Drop combo) to get your Arsenal back.
