QUESTIONS & RULINGS
| Q:
Can I use cards with the Tag Team icon? A: No. These can only be used in a Tag Team match, where you have more than one player on your team. Two-Man Power Trip are considered a superstar, just like The Rock or Kurt Angle. Two-Man Power Trip vs. Lita is a perfectly acceptable game. NOTE: The exception is card which can be played only if your Superstar card says the Tag Team Belts are the only ones playable by this deck. Example: Little She Devil, Stackplex. |
| Q: Can
I use Austin Elbow Smash or Triple H's Reverse Neckbreaker
in my Two Man Power Trip deck? A: Yes - that's the second part of the Superstar Ability. |
| Q: ...does
this include my promotional non-foil Stunner? A: Yes - it's just a representation of the same card (just remember to use opaque sleeves!). There will be non-foil cards later for Austin and/or HHH that cannot be used with Two Man Power Trip. |
| Q: ...so
what does the first part of the Ability mean? A: You are affected by Neckbreaker and Brainbuster's additional effects, but Daddy's Little Girl cannot be played against you. |
| Q: Can
I play both No Sell Maneuver and Over Sell Maneuver? A: No - Over Sell says 'Cannot be played by "Stone Cold" Steve Austin...' - thus it is affected, and cannot be used. No Sell does not specify it can be used by Triple H, so it is not available either. |
ANALYSIS
|
In The Ring: Stone Cold and Triple H make a formidable team, each able to rely on their respective assets and resources. In The Game: Not only can you use the Austin and HHH foils in your Two-Man Power Trip deck, but Triple H's wife, Stephanie McMahon, cannot be used against you! Using All Foils/Uniques:
The new cards are rather unique, as Ambush
Finalé offers great Fortitude building and devastating effects,
though it requires play in a Heel deck. And That's The Bottom Line
is a good Mid-Match reversal, but its requirement for using Cause
Stone Cold Said So! makes the latter a very difficult card to use,
moreso against low-F control decks or JR Style. Flip Over The
Corner Ringpost is a great reversal (since it reverses the Set-Up
card itself!) with an awesome recycling function; and It's Time To
Play The Game is so impressive by being both effective and flexible
- the question is, do you play the card, or does the card play you?! Using Some/No Foils/Uniques: While you can plan your deck for the Two-Man Power Trip without Trademark Finishers, this can actually be just as effective. Leaping Knee can be left out, if Irish Whip isn't used, while Reverse Neckbreaker and Ambush Finalé are good but not crucial - same with Pat. Austin Kicks, though unless you have a low-Fortitude/control-oriented deck, Austin Elbow Smash is a good choice to keep. Rattlesnake Rulz is also a keeper, when available, as is I Am The Game or Play The Game - since these card's relatively-low Fortitude requirements and strengths make them valuable. On the other hand, cards like Two Words, Stone Cold Said So, Facebuster, and Thesz Press are heavy candidates to be left out. If 10F is too high for your theme, That Damn Good can regrettably be left out, but keep Double Digits, Flip Over, and Chyna/Stephanie around under all circumstances. Finally, if your Backlash deck is overcrowded, Sledge Hammer and DTA can be left out without serious loss, though Bottom Line is a keeper for all. Deck Ideas: The most obvious plug-and-play style of Two Man deck is Heel Strike deck, using cards like Eye Rake to further unblockable chains stemming from Open A Can, Rattlesnake, and Austin Elbow Smash - or to set up Ambush Finalé! But while the deck lends itself toward an aggressive style, the hefty foil reversals can create a good 'turtle' deck, especially if played Face for Clean Break and Just Bring It! before launching one last assault with Rattlesnake Rulz. An 'eraser' deck could utilize cards like Gut Punch, Comeback!, and Drop Toe Hold in conjunction with the foils Cause Stone Cold Said So! and Ambush Finalè! - perhaps even Time To Play. Consider using High Risks and From The Top Rope, with Lita To The Xtreme and possibly Ladder In The Ring. Finally, there's a Strike/Submission deck full of Heel maneuvers to insure Ambush that can be played, with Entangle In The Ropes and Apply Illegal Leverage used along with Chair Shot and Dirty Low Blow. Recommended Stipulations: Handicap Match seems the most obvious, though pairing it with Backed By Mr. McMahon might not be as damaging as one would think (the opponent chould choose 'play with hand up' and 'show your hand for the first turn'). No DQ would be great for a Heel deck, though other Stipulations may work if you plan it ahead. Watch Out For: Ring Rats, hands down, is the biggest single threat to the Two-Man Power Trip, as it pulls 7 cards (perhaps 9, if the Tag Team Title Belts are used) from hand - Keibler's Cookies may give an amount of protection. Also, beware of Product Endorsements - it might prevent a Heel 2MPT deck from having the highest Superstar Value, thus reducing the opening handsize and rendering Backed By Mr. McMahon ineffective. How I Play: My 'Shiny Deck of Doom' (including Survivor Series foil version of cards where possible) uses the majority of the foils available in a Heel deck with sick combos like I Am The Game/Clutch/Leverage/Austin Elbow Smash and Open A Can/Pedigree, or worse, Open A Can/Eye Rake/(pick up Cuz Stone Cold Said So)/Sledge Hammer Shot. It's often hard to get started against this monstrosity, but if you do, it's still no easy feat to win. |
