The Rhode Island Comedy Festival is the brainchild of local funnyman Charlie Hall who is well known in RI as the creator of the political comedy cabaret Ocean State Follies, a political cartoonist, author of two books, and as a nationally known stand-up comedian since 1980.

The purpose of the RI Comedy Festival is to promote the art of comedy in the state, to showcase homegrown talent, and to provide an opportunity for booking agencies, businesses, fundraising organizations, clubs, restaurants, etc. to become familiar with these performers and to facilitate the hiring of these acts for any and all purposes.
