An opportunity to improve your grade in Chemistry!

Each April all chemistry students take the California Standards Test (CST) in chemistry. It is important that you review for this test, especially if you took chemistry in the Fall. Here's the CST link to some practice questions you should work through to prepare for the test. The actual test usually has 60 multiple choice questions. These are questions used on past CST exams and are very similar to the questions you will see on the test:

Practice CST Chemistry Test

The Great News: If you get a score of "Proficient" on the CST Chemistry Test, you can change your chemistry grade to one letter grade higher than you earned, to a maximum of a "B" in one Term of your choice. If you get an "Advanced" on it, you can change your grade two letter grades higher to a maximum of an "A" in one Term of your choice.

Important! You must fill out this application and return it to Mr. Bausback before 12 noon on September 15 in the same year you took the exam. This deadline is ABSOLUTE and applications received after this date and time will not be honored.

Example with "proficient": You earned a C- in chemistry in Term 1 and scored "proficient" on the CST Chemistry Test. You can then apply to have your grade changed from a "C-" to a "B-" for that term. If you earned a "C+" it could be changed to a "B" for that term.

Example with "advanced": You earned a D+ in Term 2 and scored "advanced" on the CST Test. You can then apply to have your grade changed from a "D+" to "B+" for that term. If you earned a "B-," it could be changed to an "A" for that term.

The application process for the 2009 CST grade change is now closed. No more grade change applications will be accepted. Please do not even ask to submit a late application, as the process and deadline was made very clear to everyone in chemistry last year and there will be no exceptions to this. Thank you. The application will be available again for the 2010 CST Chemistry Exam.
