July, 7th and 8th of 2007, Sherry, known as Grizelda to those who read my drivel, and I took a lil trip up the road to Kansas City, to see the Robert Heinlein Centennial,  marking the 100th day after his birth.  It was a lot of fun and we certainly had a good time.  After the Centennial (which means convention), we went to my Beloved Star's house to meet and greet and talk and drink with some of her chums.  Another good, nay, great time.  The bestest part though was the trip to White Hart, the Ren Faire out in the middle of absolutely nowhere, Missouri.  It was a lovely nowhere, and that made it, in my opinion, which is the only one that counts to me, the bestest Faire around.  Who wants a city near a Faire?  NOBODY.  Course.. a QuickTrip was only an hour away, so civilization was not left behind.

ON with the show!

These pictures are from the Centennial.  There aren't much at the Centennial because I wanted to get to Union Station where the cool stuff is.  It was like, "How much do you want to see?  There is local admission for only ten dollars. It allows you four hours to look and you don't get to see everything, but..."  - Sherry    "Oh.... let's just see what we want and leave.  I think an hour or two is good enough. Besides, I'm a cheap bastard." - Chester
"Cool with me. And yeah, I know."- Sherry.

We paid our 10 bucks, got in, spent an hour or two and left.  It was good and it was enough for me.

Then we went to Union Station, across the street.  Click for White Hart 2007 right HERE

hangy downy
This is the chandelier at the main entrance.  I just like the ceiling, so I decided to take a few shots.  Then I realized it was pretty, despite what I thought.  So, after we walked around, got our ears blasted by a wedding reception on the lower floor we came and sat down on a bench, because Sherry, knowing I'm pretty old, knew I needed the rest.  So I took another picture of the ceiling, but this time, I had art in mind.

Pretty lil thing, ain't it.  I've always found that looking up is as good as looking down, but looking up I tend to trip over my feet more often.  Just proves that gravity sucks.

Geeks!

Ok.. here's another shot of the Centennial.  this was a display of quotable things and art and sayings and stuff like that.  It was neat, but not as neat as just walking round, looking at all the little animals that come to see the place.  Geeks, I tell you! Geeks!
Sherry at Counter

We ate at the Harvey House Diner, inside of Union Station.  Here's Sherry at the counter, waiting for me to get my butt over there and sit down so we could order. We was HUNGRY.
Pie Pie, me oh my.

The Harvey House is a representation of the diner as it appeared in the 40's.  It had bunches and bunches of my favorite thing.. pies!  I would have bought an apple pie, or a slice, anyway, but we were stuffed after our lunch!

I just have this thing for clocks.  Here's more detail of the one at the Harvey house.  It was a Faux period, cuz I doubt they had Neon.
