Discussion
While there is ample evidence of this family, assigning Peter as the Peter who is the father of Paul Coonce
is a bit circumstantial. William Coonce served in the French & Indian War in the same company as John Storrum,
who was a creditor on the will of Peter in 1775. Michael Tamer (probably the Michael Tanner who was father of the
wife of John Storm) is mentioned in will of Philip Angleburger, for
which Philip Kunce was a witness. Paul was brother-in-law of Joseph Black, and a William Kuntz
(not the William above) was guardian for Joseph Black's minor children in 1808.
The will of Philip Knewel in 1773 mentions Philip Kuns, son of Philip. This could mean that Philip was
also the name of the father of George, Philip, Peter, etc. Alternatively, the father could be Michael.
This possibility is based on a 25 Jan 1752 baptism at Christ Reformed Church, Littlestown, PA of Johann Michael,
son of Michael Kuntz & Maria Elisabetha for whom the witnesses were Johann Michael Danner & Maria Eva,
obviously the Michael Danner who was father-in-law to John Storm combined with a land transaction on 3 May 1763
where Peter Koontz, eldest of Michael Koontz late of Hellam Twp. transfer land of dec'd father to Philip
Rothrack & Philip Bens. There, however, appear to be religion and location mismatches for these Michaels.
George Kuhns birth date is estimated from a March 1748 transactions for hogs in Frederick Co, MD.
Similarly, Philip Kuhns birth date is based on a 1749 judgment against him. In both cases,
the common practice of not being of legal age until 21 is assumed.

- William: wife Catharine, son Abraham
