There's no assurance Morris Michaels' father immigrated to the US. Based on the early Brooklyn directories, Aaron Michaels (111 Union in 1863-5) and Morris Michaels (111 Union Place in 1872), they are likely related (brothers?) if the two addresses are the same. Union Ave. was in Greenpoint, parallelling Franklin, and later named Manhattan Ave. In 1868, Morris is listed as on Union near Eagle; then in 1870, at Union Place near Freeman, which could be the same address. From the 1870 Census, Aaron J. Michaels was born in England in 1835 and has children Joseph, Esther, Rebecca, Abraham, Morris, Rosetta, and Moses. The names are similar to Morris' family but the birth in England is not consistent. Based on the 1870 and 1880 censuses, Aaron J. appears to be a brother of Humphrey.
