"Hist. of Northumberland Co., PA," by Floyd (1911), p. 754: "Andrew Dressler, son of John, was born May 28, 1746, in Germany, near a 'dorf' called 'Yakst,' near the 'Schwabeland.' He was three years old when brought to America." "Jonathan and Joseph Tressler and Their Descendants," a small booklet by Albert Willis Tressler (1948) reports (p. 1): "Andrew Tressler, May 28, 1747 - Oct. 21, 1828) was the son of Johann Andreas Dressler who evidently arrived at Philadelphia, Pa. Sept. 13, 1749 on the ship Christian. They had come from near Yakthause (Jagdhaus) in Wurtemberg, Germany." - the book follows the emigrant's sons, Jonathan and Joseph.

NOTE: Ancestry of John Andrew Tressler is from June Parr, R.R. 2 - Box 41, Heyworth, IL 61745 (2/95) and is NOT verified. Maria could be the Maria Elizabetha Loy who was baptized 08 July 1744 at the New Hanover Church. She and husband Johann Andrew Tressler had 12 children. {Data from K. Edward Loy of Charlottesville, VA 10/89, who indicates that Maria Elizabetha Loy may have married Samuel McCord.}

August DRESSLER married Julianne NEWMANN and immigrated to the USA with their children in 1882. Their daughter Clara's obituary said she was born in Modlan, Silesia. According to census records August was born in 1837 and Julia in 1844.

Dressler in Snyder Co, Pennsylvania in 1800s

Leah Dressler (1821-1883) married John Henry Kerstetter (1819-1897) -- they lived in the Snyder County, PA area and had seven children. Leah Dressler's parents were Jacob Dressler and Esther Gelnett. I know nothing about Jacob Dressler, but have some limited info on Esther's parentage. Most interesting point is that there is a mountain ridgeline in Snyder County called "Dressler's Ridge".

Buried 17 Sep 1934 in Parkersburg, Wood Co, WV .   Charles is buried in Parkersburg Memorial Gardens (formerly I.O.O.F. Cemetery).

Dressler near DuBois, Pennsylvania

Levi R. Dressler married Julia ?; they had a farm near Home Camp (out side of DuBois, Pa. Their son Quinton Elliot Dressler (known as Q.E., a lawyer in DuBois, Pa.) married Margaret Elizabeth Lines (daughter of David and Elizabeth Lines from Luthersburg, Pa) Their children were:

Mabel Ketruith - died in infancy
Lottie Prudence - died in infancy
Levi - died in infancy
Jess Aldrin - veteran of Spanish American War - died in an accident
Levi Leslie - worked on railroad lived to the age of 86
Lavinia - b. 1886 married ? Bloom and had 9 children, lived well into her 90's in Home Camp, Pa.
Lois Julia - b. 1892 - d. 1974 married Lee Horn(e) They lived in DuBois Pa. where Lee in the early years taught school and later managed an A&P store.
Cyrus Arden- b. 1994 died as a young man with T.B.
Fairy (Fay) - b. 1896 - still living- married Al Waslohn - lived in Oil City, Pa;adopted one son who was an accomplished musician.
Jenny Elliot married Eschol Clyde had one child Ross Eschol Clyde b. 1920. Jenny died quite young in 1925 with pnuemonia. Her sister Lois raised her child, Ross.

Dressler and Lahr in PA late 1700s-1800s

Loking for marriage date of Catherine DRESSLER to Johann George LAHR sometime between 1824/1825. She is the daughter of Johann Jacob DRESSLER and Susanna HOMAN. Catherine was born 20 April 1798 someplace in Northumberland Co Pa. and she died 8 Oct 1881 at Red Cross, Jackson Twp, Northumberland. She is Buried in St Peters Church.

There is a film FHL #1020761 on the Andreas Dressler Family and can be order from your local Family History Library.
