William Harvey STORM

I have a problem with all the children of William Harvey STORM, s/o Isaac STORM and Parthenia "Mary" DENNY, and William's wife, Sara Angie HARRIS. My notes say William Harvey and Sara moved from Indiana soon after they were married and went to Kansas where all their children were born and where Wm. & Sara died. I now find others showing these children as all born in Indiana. Can anyone tell me which is correct? Many thanks!

Christian Storm and Catherina Reep in Leavenworth, Kansas in latter 1800s

(Diane Treff) Does anyone have any information on a Christian Storm whom was married to a Catherina (Katherina) Reep. They had to have lived in Leavenworth, Kansas by at least 1855, as one of their daughters Mary Storm married Fred Treff. Catherina is buried at Mount Muncie in Leavenworth. However, the whereabouts of Christian after 1866 becomes a mystery. He at one time was listed in the Leavenworth City directory. His wife Catherina continued to be listed for many years as did her sons. They had children: William, Mary, Peter, Adolph, Lillian, Ernest, John, & daughter. There are many speculations as to what happened to Christian. According to a previous family member who did geneolgy years ago, the Storm family of Leavenworth came from Baden-Baden Germany. Her records show all children born there , but no source of records. She may have been told verbally and may never have gotten around to checking her sources. She too is gone now so I do not know. Maybe Christian Storm actually was here in the States earlier than we expect. Most German immigrants of Leavenworth, arrived in the US about 1850 or a little earlier. However, I have yet to find where Christian-Cathererina and their children arrived. These names are descendants of Christian and Catherina Reep Storm of Leavenworth: Treff, Schiffelbein, Scheiber, Peters, Sutton, Swoboda, Todd, Vanberg, Vieira, Witt, Zapp,Bornhauser,Frohn,Gunning, Hartman,Hilty, Lindquist, McCubbins, McMillan, Lyman, Nash, Olson.

John Storm from Virginia to Kentucky, father of Nancy Storm who Married Lorenzo Earp

Peter Asbury Earp, one of Colusa County's (CA) oldest settlers. A native of Kentucky, he was born in Ohio County, September 12, 1835, the oldest of eighteen children and the only son who is located in California. He is the representative of a southern family of prominence, his great-grandfather, Phillip Earp, being a native of Virginia, from which colony he served in the revolutionary war. A son, Walter Earp, also a native of Virginia, located in young manhood in North Carolina, thence removing in 1814 to Ohio County, Kentucky. He was a school teacher by profession and was occupied for many years in the primitive schools of the middle west. In 1846, he removed to Monmouth, Warren County, Illinois, where his death occurred at the age of sixty-eight years. A son of Walter Earp, Lorenzo D., a native of North Carolina, attained manhood in his Kentucky home, whence he immigrated to Warren county, IL, in 1846. He made that location his home until 1853, when he removed to Jasper county, Iowa, and engaged in farming until his death in the fall of 1893, at the age of 84 years. He was twice married, his first wife being NANCY STORM, a native of Kentucky. Her grandfather, JOHN STORM, was a native of Virginia, whence he immigrated to Kentucky at the time that state was appropriately called the "dark and bloody ground." While hunting near Louisville, he was taken prisoner by the Indians, who took him into Indiana, holding him prisoner for two years, during which period they learned to trust him. His boldness won him life and freedom and the Indians made him a chief, allowing him to go hunting. Watching his chance he escaped across the Ohio River, to his home in Kentucky, where he lived the remainder of his life quietly. His son Peter Storm, a native of Kentucky, married Ann Maria Souders, a native of Maryland and the descendant of an old family. Their daughter, Nancy Earp, died in Illinois, after which her husband again married. He had eighteen children, nine by the first wife and nine by the second.

Peter Storm & Martha Jane Weathersford in Illinois in mid 1800s

Peter Storm married to Martha Jane Weatherford in Marshall, Clark County, IL in 1840. Second child, Arthur, born 1843, in Scott or Jefferson County, IN. I don't know where Peter was born or where he and Martha Jane went, or when after 1843. Have checked census records for IN, no luck. Do not know where they are buried. Son Arthur joined the Civil War in 1862, at the age of 19, in MO. He died there in Carroll County in 1927. I have no information on Martha Jane Weatherford, except she may have been from IN. A death certificate on one of Peter and Martha's children says that Peter may have been born in IL.

Peter L. STORM

Peter L. STORM (Sr.) b. ca. 1803/4 in KY, m. Jane BURCH 23 Jan 1823 in Monroe Co, IN, d. btwn 1861 and 1865 in Galesburg, Jasper Co, MO.

Peter L. Sr and his wife took their family to Jasper Co, MO btwn. 1850 and 1854. The children (all b. Greene Co, IN) were: Preston, b. ca 1826 Elizabeth, b. ca 1832 James B., (my guy) b. 25 Nov 1833 Isaac N., b. ca 1836 William D., b. 30 Sept 1838 George, b. 9 Sept 1840 Peter L. (Jr.), b. 30 June 1842 or 1843 Susanna L. (aka Susan), b. 7 Mar 1844 John J., b. 24 May 1846 Jefferson H. (possibly d. young), b. 7 Oct 1848

Rumor has it that the "L" in "Peter L." was "LUNCEFORD". Several of us researching Peter L. STORM and Jane BURCH feel certain that Peter L. Sr. is one of the "missing 13" children of Isaac STORM and Susanna LUNSFORD, but the proof has been elusive. !

Storm 1800+ NY > Michigan

Susan Storms Hall: born in Dutchess County, NY in 1810. By 1830, she and her brother Abram were living in Cattaurgus Co, in western New York, where she met and married Silas Hall. She and probably her brother Abram moved first to near Allegeny Co, Michigan in 1835, finally settling in Grand Rapids around 1842. They had several children, including Jeanette Hall who married Charles Theodore Patterson. Family tradition holds that the Storms were a Dutch family; the line in America may have originated with Deryk Storm who came to New York when is was owned/settled by Hollanders.

Other Storms

There is another line of Storm(s) with an "s" which arrived in 1662. The person to contact on this line is an Emily Arminio on Prodigy. Her Prodigy # is RRGN10B. This line came from Holland during that time period. Re: Greenup ... I also wonder about where the name came from. I have speculated that he must have been born at the time the crops were coming out of the ground ! Whatever the reason, I'm glad the parents chose a different name other than the usual names givin during that period; otherwise I would still be searching for two names instead of gaining the 5,000 I have. Also...there are a few unrelated and/or unidentified Storm families that were found by our Storm researchers that lived in Lawrence & Monroe County, Indiana. They were: (1) James Storm & wife (Monroe County, Ind.) 1820 census - age bracket is 26-45; with 3 sons & one daughter, all under 10 years old. (2) John Storm & wife (Monroe County, Ind.) 1820 census - age brackets were one male, 45 & up; one male 26-45; two males under ten, and one female 16-26.
