Chrysa Cullather is a professional editor and typesetter with more than 10 years of experience. She has worked with a variety of style guides and specializes in scientific and scholarly work.

Chrysa studied geology and sociology at the College of William and Mary in Virginia (B.S.) and geology (M.S.) at the George Washington University in Washington, D.C. She also studied at the University of Virginia in the Editing and Book Publishing Program and received a graduate-level certificate in editing.

Chrysa began her professional career as a physical scientist with the U.S. Department of Interior, Minerals Management Services. There she created maps of the Atlantic Outer Continental Shelf and researched environmental issues related to offshore oil drilling. She later worked as an environmental consultant and project manager for the Cadmus Group and the Marasco Newton Group. In this capacity, she researched, wrote, edited, and typeset reports on environmental issues ranging from the public drinking water supply to Superfund hazardous waste cleanups.

At Horne Environmental and Engineering Services, Chrysa broadened her environmental experiences to include radioactive waste, pesticides, and the built environment (i.e., historic preservation). She continued her work in radioactive waste and public health as an editor and typesetter for the National Safety Council's Environmental Health Center.

In 1994, Chrysa began freelance editing, proofreading, and typesetting. Her work has taken her into the fields of mental health, historic preservation, transportation, business, and medicine and occasionally returned her to the field of geology.

Chrysa is experienced in using the Chicago Manual of Style (14th and 15th editions), the American Psychological Association Publication Manual (5th edition), and the American Medical Association Manual of Style (9th edition). She uses Microsoft Word, Adobe PageMaker, Adobe Illustrator, and Adobe Acrobat. Chrysa is a member of the Editorial Freelancers Association and Copyedit-L and is listed as a consultant by the Association for Support of Graduate Students.
