Arnie & Peggy Vogel's
trip to the
Grand Canyon
and some  reunion pictures

Peggy and I have returned from four days at the Grand Canyon.  The first day we went to Williams, AZ and rode the luxury parlor car round trip on the Grand Canyon Railway.  The trip was very relaxing and enjoyable.  We met several nice couples, enjoyed a few appetizers, were robbed by galloping wild west cowboys that stopped the train, and later sipped champagne before we disembarked!  When we returned to Williams we drove back to the Canyon and stayed at the Yavapai Lodge.  The next day we leisurely walked the Rim and attended a workshop on how to photograph the canyon with digital cameras.  We purchased a Canon two days before we left.  We learned a few tricks and took a few photos.  On Thursday morning at 5:00 AM we hiked down the Bright Angel Trail to Indian Gardens and on to Plateau Point where we fueled our bodies with a picnic brunch.  We reached the top again by noon!  Jumped into the car with a few aches and pains and drove back home for dinner at 5:00 PM.
Notice the Leki hiking pole Peggy gave me for my birthday!  It has the advantage of placing a rubber tip at the end so that it can be transformed into a "walking cane" in the near future!
We both felt 67 by the time we climbed back out........  That "walking cane" may become a reality sooner than I thought after I examined my blistered feet when it was time for a shower.  Peggy's pedometer recorded 32,000 + steps during our hiking time at the canyon (12.2 miles, 3195 elevation drop).
The following Photos are from our 40th  Reunion

Gee everyone looks YOUNG here!
