Churchland Baptist Church called Lawrence (Larry) Coleman to serve as pastor on April 30, 2000. He moved to Churchland from the First Baptist Church of Laurinburg, North Carolina on July 13, 2000.
Larry and his wife, Kim, have three daughters. Larry was nurtured to faith in the First Baptist Church of Asheville, the same congregation that ordained him in November 1974. He has been active in the communities where he has served, having been a Kiwanian, an Optimist, and currently a Rotarian. He has served on ad hoc School Board committees in upstate New York and in North Carolina. He has been an active leader in the associations and in the state conventions in both states as well.
