The cockpit features Vans excellent engine gauges, mounted on a removable panel for access to a fuse panel behind. The gauges work flawlessly, and are much easier to view in the bright sun than LCD type gauges. Be sure to run a separate ground from the engine directly to the gauges.
The antenna for the hardwired GPS 296 is forward of the compass, on the glareshield. The Digitrak Pictorial Pilot tracks the GPS. The green LED next to the elevator trim indicator is the Altrak annunciator, with the control on the stick. The IPOD hanging on the right side feeds my 4000 song music library into the stereo intercom system, and is usually passed to the back seat so the pax can be the DJ, if they chose.
I feel the Insight BarGraph engine analyzer is a no-go item for a fuel injected engine, as I would fried a cylinder due to a speck of dirt clogging an injector nozzle that I caught on a preflight runup, after maintenance. The mag check and all other indications were normal, but the analyzer insisted that I had a hot cylinder. I shut it down, and discovered the tiny pebble that would have caused a severely lean cylinder on takeoff, resulting in substantial damage to the engine. Thank you Insight!
I have also installed a CO Guardian carbon monoxide detector. The red FIRE handle on the right is for the Halon engine fire system, with nozzles mounted on the firewall. The miniature Oxygen bottle provides enough for the pilot for about an hour.
