The lower portion of the forward baggage compartment was used for the battery, electrical components, and Halon bottle. This area allowed these components to be mounted forward, without the abusive environment of the engine compartment. There is a hinged door on the cover panel (not shown), that allows inspection of the Halon bottle pressure gauge, and allows battery access for jumper cables, without removing the panel. The cigar lighter in the cockpit is direct wired to the battery, so when the master is off, the plug is hot. This could be useful with an electrical problem inflight, and can be used to trickle charge the battery during prolonged ground storage. The Odyssey battery is small, lite, and very powerful. It is zero maintenance, and holds a charge during long periods of non use. Everything is well secured for aerobatic flight.
