This view of the firewall shows the Halon discharge nozzles. With 5 pounds of agent discharging into relatively dead airspace, I would think that this would be effective fire control, if you first turn off the fuel. I don't plan on having to test the system, but with an aft CG potential with my lite engine/ prop combo, I thought this would be good use of 8 lbs of ballast, (total system weight). The unit is from Stroud Safety, who manufacture race car equipment. (stroudsafety.com). The Acro Specialties solid milled oil shuttle valve is also visible, as well as their oil separator. I feel these components are superior to the Christen components. The Acro Specialties solid milled shuttle valve is much more robust than the Christen cast aluminum valve, which have been known to crack. The separator is more compact, however there would be room for either in this relatively roomy engine compartment. Contact Doug Dodge at Acro Specialties for more information (989) 893-0801.
