This aft baggage area tube was made to handle golf clubs and fishing poles. The actual weight of the clubs, in a lite, quiver style bag, is actually on the upper baggage shelf, and on the bags on the lower baggage floor. The handles of the clubs float into the tube, so there is no weight on it, and no aft CG consideration. Having this very useful tube requires additional responsibility upon the pilot/loadmaster!
The elastic cargo net is a motorcycle product, and holds down my (always there) survival gear during aerobatics and turbulence, as well as the clubs.
The Plexiglas window allows for easy inspection of the elevator servo and bellcrank assembly, two rather critical items that otherwise go under inspected due to the difficult, (and uncomfortable) access.
The antenna for the ELT is mounted to the bottom of the upper baggage floor, under the ELT. This outdated, but required technology is supplemented by a GPS enabled 406 Personnel Locator Beacon, that is easily accessed, and removed upon an emergency Egress.
