Maule Fly-in 2004

Johnson Creek, ID

Ken Tekut in his M5-220C near Ely Nevada.

Johnson Creek Airport looking north from the south end near our campsite.

Looking south toward the Bryant home.

A very custom turbine Beaver departing Saturday morning.

Truly awesome performance with a load. Yeah, I know, it's not a Maule.

Ken takes it easy after a morning of inspecting Maules.

Jeremy  on takeoff roll Saturday morning. We had front row seats for the morning departures as many folks went out to experience all that Idaho has to offer in the way of backcountry airstrips.

Greg's custom M5/7/?-180? AKA Bushwacker. A very cool airplane with amazing performance.

Maules lined up along the east side of the airstrip. Approx. 49 Maules were in attendance with at least seven of them being M4's - not a bad showing.

Attending to house keeping at our camp on the southeast corner of the strip.

Johnson Creek looking north.

Trying to catch some trout in Johnson Creek.

The town of Yellow Pine.

A drug store cowboy in front of the general store.

A view of the Bryant home taken from the trail on the way to Riordan Lake.

On the trail through the meadow on the way to the lake.

Riordan Lake. There was a Moose with her calf on the island across the lake. She was keeping a careful eye on the fisherman.

Enjoying a picnic break at the lake.

The trail to the lake is very scenic with boardwalks across some of the marshy spots. Bring your mosquito repellent.

Enjoying dinner at the Yellow Pine Tavern (and staying out of the rain) on Tuesday night. Several of us decided to stay a few extra days.

Cully Culwell's fine looking Beaver.  This beautifully restored plane flew for Air America during the Vietnam war. He had a Honda Trail 70 motorcycle stowed in the back of it. A modest use of the Beavers hauling capability.

A panoramic view of the airstrip from the northeast side.
