Hollyhocks are a great plant for an old-fashioned garden.  I just wish that it would reseed here.  The seeds usually mildew on the plant.

Salvia 'Victoria' is a nice blue accent for the garden.  It is perennial for us.

The poppies did pretty well in 2001.  This one was a unique color, so I had to take a photo of it.   I like the veining in it.

We grow sunflowers in the garden from time to time.  They are good to fill in the new areas that haven't been claimed by perennials or shrubs.

Verbena bonariensis provides a nice architectural element in the garden.  Even though it is tall, it can be placed near the front of a border because it is lanky and can be seen through.

We got these plants one year on my birthday in St. Francisville, LA.  They didn't do much the first year, but now they add some nice color to the shady beds in the front.   They are some type of begonia plant.
