Comments: I loved all the photos. You have certainly done a wonderful
job both in the garden and in your photography. I would love to see more
shots of your beds and how you have them planted. I have a small space and
wish to have more, but it ends up looking like a jumbled up mess rather than
a cottage garden.
Thank you for being you! Have a great garden year!

for bringing it to my attention with the comment about the canon tx.
I love mine. My garden is quite new but I am hoping to get some good
shots this year. I'm amused by your time frame for flowers blooming,
I'm in the frozen north and are waaaay behind you for spring. I just
have a few crocus out & it's April 13. And we are bracing for
a huge flood too. Again THANKS!!

of your gardens very much. Our zones seem to be similar, according to what
you have growing. But you have many more roses than I.

93) I viewed your garden Sunday on the tour and think that it is
wonderful - so fragrant and colorful. The paths are my favorite thing.
They create the feeling of 'strolling leisurely' so that you're able to absorb
all of the sights and smells.
You've also
done a great job on this web site. My favorite thing about it is your
captions on all of the pictures. They feel like you are giving me a
personal tour of the whole garden at every season of the year. Great job!

91) Dear Friends: Thank you for your beautiful garden book.
I enjoyed seeing it tremendously as I had tickets for the tour but pulled
a muscle and by Sunday could only hobble slowly around the house. Very sad!
Unfortunately, the other gardens on the tour will remain a mystery as I never
even saw a write-up on them in the paper. We were away and must have
missed it.
Your photos
are gorgeous and I enjoyed your growing information. Nicotiana sounds
like a good addition to the patio garden, and I also use the Homestead Verbena

Was browsing through and had to comment. What a beautiful garden you have!
All the plants look healthy and happy. All your pictures are gorgeous
too. I was especially interested in your "Della's ginger". I
grow some gingers myself, and by no means am an expert, but I believe that
plant is Curcuma petiolata. I know for sure it is a Curcuma, but I'm
not 100% certain it's that species. I grow Curcumas, Zingibers, one
Globba (schomburgkii), Kaempferias, Hedychiums and so on. I have really
gotten into these plants in the last two years. I have pictures of my
plants. If you'd be interested to see them, email me. Again, really
enjoyed touring your garden!

49) Just wandered round your website, having spent our bank holiday
weekend creating some more flowerbeds in my small English cottage garden.
I envy you your space, as my back garden is only 17' x 60' and my front
garden only 17' x 20' (approx) so I can't get many plants in. However
at the moment my front garden looks wonderful with a standard wisteria chinensis
alba in full bloom underplanted with aquilegia and forget-me-not. I
also have clumps of primroses that originally came from my Mother's garden
in Cornwall and are now seeding everywhere. The daffodils and tulips
have just finished and then it's on to the roses, phlox and penstemmon,
etc. Not sure about the back garden yet, it's mostly large bare beds,
apart from a Bramley apple and lots of forget-me-not! Will enjoy looking
at your garden again.

28) Oh! That good ol' fertile soil! I once had this kind
of soil to work with when I lived in Mobile, AL. Here in GA on the
coast, it is sand, sand, sand! I loved visiting with you here.
You give a good tour. You are a very good gardener, and an outstanding
photographer. Things are always changing in a Garden... keep snapping
those pictures and sharing!

and your love of plants shines through. I would like to grow the Iris
you have pictured on page 5 of your perennials photos but you have not named
it.

24) This is an awesome site. I thoroughly enjoyed all of
your pictures and the really nice descriptions and information regarding
the pics. I am a former resident of Mandeville and Slidell, for a brief 3-yr
period of time, and I so miss all the wonderful tropicals I could grow there.
Seems like lots of Louisiana gardeners grow Ginger. Do you have any
of those? I am SO jealous of the Spigelia Marilandica that just "showed
up" in your garden! What a gift! I'm off to see if I can find
one!!!

23) Your sight is absolutely gorgeous. Linda Lee and I are
close friends and she turned me on to your sight...what a joy. As a
La. Master Gardener and Landscape Contractor I have viewed nearly every Garden
Web Ring sight on the net & yours is, by far, the best. Your passion
for gardening is obvious. I will be checking in from time to time for
updates. It's great having someone from good ole' Louisiana with a site...I
feel connected. My husband and I just finished building a home in Clinton
on 10 acres, so I'm starting with a blank canvas. I outgrew my .75
acre yard so had to get a bigger place to 'play'. I look forward to
the weekends to get down in dirt & this weekend is going to be an ideal
one. Thanks again for sharing your beautiful place.

21) Hey, Van!! Very nice web-site. Of course I've already seen all your
pictures, and have already seen your backyard in person, so,... can you develop
an index of all the photos with the dates, and which ones I haven't seen yet??
That way I could go straight to the new ones. Now, THAT would be really
cool! (And should keep you busy for a few more weeks.)

long time! I think you all have done such a great job on the whole
nine yards of your long term project and I want to say that I am so proud
of you all and what you have done. I will be moving soon and this is
a wonderful way for me to feel closer to you all. Keep up the great
work! Til I see you all again! Take care!

18) Thank you for visiting Shady Nooks. Your garden makes my little
postage stamp look pretty unimpressive! I was enthralled! You
must love to spend time just walking and sitting in it! I am afraid
mine is in for a hard time--restricted to watering twice a month now due to
drought. Lost all but one of the eleagnus shrubs that framed my yard
to cotton rooot rot. Will probably spend this summer trying to recreate
the frame with resistant shrubs. Most discouraging as the eleagnus were nine
feet tall and twelve years old. Sigh. Will be back for inspiration.
Thank you for sharing this beautiful garden. Oh, also, Hank's garden
was in southern California and he had to leave it when transferred to the
Seattle area-- he looking forward to creating a new garden with a whole new
set of plantings.

love for you as it is for me. Given enough time, I hope mine can be
as lush and full. Please come visit me again. I'll post more pictures
just as soon as my garden comes back to life. I can hardly wait to
see what a difference another year has made...and I'm sure you feel exactly
the same way!!
