If you like Science Fiction and Fantasy, then you certainly came to the right place. I grew up during the 50s, and I loved the "B" movie double feature matinees on Saturday afternoons. We saw a lot of incredible films about the effects of radiation on an assortment of creatures. I was also crazy about movies like "Forbidden Planet" and Ray Harryhausen films like "The 7th Voyage of Sinbad". Ray Harryhausen's talent with stop motion animation created such magic that even today it is hard to believe what he did with the creatures he created 30 or more years ago. Be sure to visit the links I have to Jim Rodkey's web pages. Jim has put a great deal of work into gathering information and creating multimedia files from Harryhausen's work.

Another key ingredient to any good movie is the music. The great composer Bernard Herrmann helped to bring out the suspense of many films, to include "Jason and the Argonauts","Mysterious Island", and "Journey to the Center of the Earth". My imagination soared watching movies from Jules Verne's and H.G. Wells stories; "Journey to the Center of the Earth " and the "Time Machine" are a couple of my favorites. I was amazed by movies produced with the special effects of George Pal. In the 60s I watched "Star Trek", and was moved by films like "2001: A Space Odyssey". During the early 70s Sci-Fi films sometimes started with great promise but often lost something or died in the sequels like those for "Planet of the Apes". "Star Wars" and "Superman" in the late 70s tweaked our interest in Sci-Fi again. No one will deny that George Lucas and Steven Spielberg forever changed the genre earning it a respect that has given SF a following and interest it has never known. "Star Wars" is the only movie I have seen more than 20 times. The music of John Williams has enhanced these two artist films and many others.

Also we must not forget the incredible special effects by the folks at Industrial Light + Magic. The images presented to us in the 80s were sometimes both beautiful and frightening. Although I love most of the Star Trek movies, my favorite movie from that period is "Blade Runner". The cutting edge technology of the 90s has given us astounding movies like "T2" and "Jurassic Park". I'm sure we all will be awed by things to come.
