Comets Become Two-Team
Program: The
Comets have merged with players formerly with the BRYC Phoenix and the CYA
Blast to form the CYA Comets White and Comets Purple. We are excited
about our first season of 11v11 play and are working through all of the
administrative joy to register for WAGS play and the fall tournaments.
The teams will be trained
and coached by Todd Hamlin, Nadir Moumen and Karl Gibbons of
Total Futbol. Chris Mustain will remain as an assistant coach and serve the
teams administratively. Michelle Francis and Lauren McCarthy will
manage the White team. Darren McKnight will manage the Purple team.
We're revamping our website to reflect the
changes!

Party! Hats
off to Nick for hosting a great end of season party. Parents and
players alike had a great time! The debate is still open, however, as
to which generated more heat -- the weather or Nick's hot sauce. The
sauce alone was reason to dip in the pool . . .
Thanks:
The Comet families wish to express their appreciation to the all of the
CYA volunteers who do the thankless behind the scenes work that makes each
season happen - in particular CYA Soccer Board Chairman Mark Abbott, Travel
Director John Collins, WAGS Representative Paul Barboza, Treasurer Susan
Gibbs, and Referee Coordinator Alan Liotta. THANK YOU !!
Within our own family,
many thanks to the coaches, trainers, our manager and all the parents who
chip in to give our players an opportunity to enjoy this game.
Your efforts make a real difference!
Comets Conclude Spring
Campaign:
The Comets ended our WAGS season with a hard-fought win and a
rain-soaked tie to finish the season with 5 wins, 2 losses and 2 ties --
equaling the best record in the division. Unfortunately we lost the
crown on a tie break. Despite that, the players have much of which to
be proud. The Comets surrendered only 7 goals over nine games, best in
the division, with four shutouts. We scored 18 goals, good for 3rd
best in the division. Looking at 2008 in total - indoor, outdoor and
tournaments, the Comets have compiled a 14-5-5 record. Great job girls!

Jamestown Cup:
The Comets had a lot of fun at Bush Gardens and played well at the
Jamestown Cup. We opened with explosive 6-3 and 8-0 wins in the
opening matches to seize the lead in our flight, but fell in the third game
1-3 to be denied a shot at the championship. Kelsey led the scoring,
followed by Rachel, Hailey, Tessa, Brooke and Morgan. The tournament
was well run and played on good fields.
Weekend Sweep:
The team continued
playing at a high level this weekend, posting two shutouts and knocking in
six goals in two 3-0 wins. Rachel scored twice over the weekend, with
Natalie, Morgan, Kelsey and Kristin accounting for the other goals. Kelsey
also led the Comets in assists.
