A process of formal origin, diagram analysis, & computer modeling to design architectural space |
8 week project, Fall 1997, University of Arizona |

Physical vs. Computer Models After the design of the project had been decided, the architecture was studied in two different processes, a physical model and a computer model. The two different models revealed different elements of the design. What may have been difficult to emulate in one was surprisingly easier in the other. The physical model focuses much more on the actual forms and materials of the design, while the computer has a stronger sense of space. Another reason to build both was to have a feel for time and presentation quality. The computer model for example need a lot more time and detail to achieve what the physical model already did. The physical model lacks a sense of scale. The final analysis was booth have their strengths and weaknesses. |
