Who Is Ducy Bluebuzzard? The first use of Ducy to represent the Cookson store dates back to the 1940's. First drawn as a characture of a local customer of the store, the image was then painted on a piece of tin and placed on the store roof. Some locals still remember seeing this store sign with his big hat and big gun. The original image was thought lost to time and reproduction became the only image source for subsequent store owners. (Ducy 2001) In 2003 the original tin painting was found. It had long since been cut down in size and used to help seal a door (Original Tin Image). This original was then used as the pattern for the Ducy you see today. It is said that, long ago, the owners could not afford to have the original image painted by a big city "Acey Redbird" artist, so it was descided that "Ducey Bluebuzzard" was a fitting name for the gentelman. |
