The city of Pusan, Korea--Location of the famed "Pusan Perimeter".  During the very early and dark days of the Korean War, it appeared that the entire country could fall to the Communist.  General Douglas MacArthur's bold move to invade behind the communist lines with the Allied Landings headed by the US Marines on September 15, 1950, did the job.  What a decisive victory this was for the Allied Forces.  I just happened to be on this campaign.

In July of 1950, I was on a troop transport bound for Korea and the Pusan Perimeter. My outfit landed in Pusan on August 3, 1950. Pusan was the only port open to the allied Forces at that time. It was vital to us.

Next came the Inchon Landings the following month.  I saw Seoul, Korea destroyed and liberated. Afterward in October, to Wonsan in North Korea and on up the Chosin Reservior where a vicious battle took place when China with its vast army entered the war en masse the day after Thanksgiving of 1950.
We were later evacuated from the big port of Hungnam, North Korea and back to South Korea and the city of Chinhae where we first started in August of 1950.
I was very fortunate in war - returning home safely each time.  The Lord was looking after me, I am very certain of this as I survived  to talk about it today.
