The server is located at lark.utah.edu, and can be reached on port 5000. To connect, use the telnet client as follows : "telnet lark.utah.edu 5000". Features of the server include : o Save/Load feature for games. o Mailing feature allowing you to send the list of moves for a game to the address you specify. o Complete USCF rating system. o Clocks... you can set the time for a match to whatever you wish, be it a G30 or a G5! o Complete conversation package, allowing shouts, tells, and says (see on-line documentation for details if you don't know what these are). o Ability to observe up to eight on-going games at once! By far the best feature of all, of course, is that you can play other chess lovers from around the globe, in real time. Whether you're a poor player who just enjoys playing chess, or a master looking to see just how good you really are, this server will provide the means to satisfy you. All the standard chess rules apply, including en-passant, castling, and pawn promotion. Ratings are completely legitimate, its not possible for a player to cheat by playing him/herself or things like that. So if you have a 2100+ rank, people *know* you've earned it. The extensive help facility is waiting for you to browse through and examine. Log on as an unregistered player, try a few games, get to know the system... then send mail and get registered! Registered players are the only ones who have ratings. To register, you need to send mail to mmo...@peruvian.utah.edu listing your handle and password. -See you on-line at ICS!
