There have been problems trying to log into the Internet Chess Server (ICS)
from systems running anything but Unix.

For those out there who have tried but have failed, use the following method to
connect to ICS depending on your specific machine:

Unix, Ultrix, etc...

% telnet parsifal.umkc.edu 5000

VAX/VMS

$ telnet/port=5000 parsifal.umkc.edu

CMS

telnet parsifal 5000 (linemode
